The newest course of the Gold Mountain Golf Complex opened in 1996.  Nationally recognized and has lots of varied terrain.  Water comes into play on several holes.

Extreme Best Ball

A team will record one player's net score as the team's best ball score for each hole.

Now here's the twist:  A team must use each player's net score for a hole a minimum number of times based on their course handicap.

Course Handicap Minimum # of holes
0-9 5
10-19 4
20-29 3
30+ 2

The number of holes above the minimum requirement for each team will vary according to the team makeup.  Strategy and a bit of luck will determine which score is used.  Remember, once a score is recorded, a team can not go back and use a different score.

Example

A player with a course handicap of 30+ has already had one of their scores used previously.  On hole #17, he scores a 7 and gets 2 handicap strokes for a net 5.  The team decides to use his bogey as the best ball score for this hole.  On the next hole, this same 30+ handicap player scores a 5, and with 2 handicap strokes, has a net birdie 3.  Your team cannot go back and change the team score used for hole #17.

If all players have met the minimum # of holes requirement, then this birdie score may be used.  If a player hasn't met the minimum, then their score must be used to avoid a team DQ.

The low handicap player of each team will be the "captain" and will be responsible for the accuracy and integrity of recording the chosen score at the conclusion of each hole.  Please indicate which player's score is used for each hole.

As mentioned above, only properly completed scorecards will be accepted.

In the event a team plays with less than 4 players, the tournament committee will randomly select a player of appropriate handicap.  This player will play in the group ahead of the shorthanded team.  They will write their score for the just completed hole on a piece of paper and leave it at the tee box of the next hole.  The shorthanded team, at the conclusion of their hole and before they tee off at the next hole, will use the extra player's score in determining their best ball score for the previous hole.
