New season, new website!

Welcome to FHGC 2010!  It's been ten years since the debut of the original FHGC website and lots of things have changed since we first starting using email and the internet to ease some of the burden of running the club.  While "techie cool" to have our club on the internet, it was also kind of boring because the communication only went one way.  Over the winter, the crazy guys of the 2010 Board decided it was time to be like the Mariners and change it up.  So we are pleased to introduce our new FHGC online community!

So what's new?  Everything!  We're using a platform which is easier to maintain and can access new features as they become available.  Best part?  You guys get to participate!  The Board helped in the development phase with their articles and comments and the Commander-In-Chief himself wrote a classic if you haven't read it already - The Burning Clubs of Chinatown.

Where to start?  Just start clicking.  If you haven't already, you'll get an email with your user name and password as fast as I can type and set up your account.  Then you can log in and check out some of the cool members only stuff like:

  • Comments - you notice how certain guys like Floyd and Yak can't seem to wait until Jim sends out an Evite just so they can make some witty comment?  Well, they can pop them out anytime they feel like it now.  You like Floyd's article?  Add a comment and give him some props!

  • Blogs - weBlogs for your personal thoughts.  Every member gets their own blog.  I used mine to keep the Board up to date as the website was being developed.  You'll see examples as the community grows.

  • Author your own stories - write and post stories like Floyd.  For example, we're hoping to preserve some of the oldtimers' adventures before we lose them.  We KNOW some of you can write because we've gotten some damn funny emails from you over the years.

  • Membership list, maps, weather, RSS feeds, calendars, add pictures...lots of good stuff.

  • Explore - you can't break it.  If you do, well you just might find your name next to the Webmaster title.

  • and there's more coming!

Get your sticks ready, tune up that swing and check out the number of days until our first tournament at Capitol City!
