More golf, less work!

February 2010

Don't know about their golf, but the pancakes were good...

Saw several FHGC members keeping up the ties with the First Hill Lions Club this morning.  Ed Yakushijin, Thom Ikeda and Victor Mizumori were demonstrating some serious kitchen skills during  the annual pancake breakfast that will benefit Seattle Keiro, Kawabe House and Kin On this year.

New Handicap Update Schedule for 2010

Posting of scores in Washington begins on March 1, 2010. GHIN will issue updated handicap indexes every other Wednesday ending on March 24, 2010. The next update will not occur until April 15. From that date forward GHIN will update handicap indexes on the 1st and 15th of every month. Posting of scores in Washington will end on November 15, 2010.

New Season, Same Tournament Chairman

Everyone who is a member of the FHGC for 2010 will be presented with a hand-out at the first tournament they participate in.  Over the years, we have been kind of lax on some of the golf rules.  Mainly, to accommodate the "Old Timers" in the club.  i.e. we always played Winter Rules.

Glitch and to do list

Here's a running list of the things I'm working on...you can add to the list via the comments.

"Read More" to get more...

If a story has "Read More" at the bottom, click on it to get the rest of the story.  Sometimes stories are too big to be displayed in full so only a "teaser" is shown.

Some of you are missing the best parts!

Creating content

To create content: Create content > then select the content type you want to create, such as, Story/article, Page, FAQ, Golf Course, Tournament Format, etc. There are usually one or more fields within each content type. The following is an example of a page.

The Title and Body are common fields in many content types. The Title is used to create the page address or URL. Keep it clear and to the point.

The Body is where you put the text for the page. It's your story or tournament format or FAQ.

Events - Tournaments

We joined the club to play golf so this is obviously a very important section.

Tournaments are designed around 4 basic components - the event details, the golf course, the tournament format and RSVP's. Once the tournament event is set up, it will become available to other portions of the website like:

Help

This is the Help section for the First Hill Golf Club website.  It describes the design and use of various parts of the website by the FHGC members.

Website Overview

We designed the FHGC website to create an online community of members and help us run the club.  We know the most important question you probably have is "When is my tee time?" and you'll find that information here.  But if that's all you look for, you're missing out on a lot of other good stuff.  We hope all members will partcipate in our community by posting on the website.  Actually, we kind of force you to participate - remember "no RSVP, no play?"
